Meant to Be Page 7

Walker went on for a while longer until they reached the black Lexus. It was then that he noticed Nik was strangely silent. He glanced up at his lover and saw the anger in his eyes. Walker raised both eyebrows in question.

“So, the only value you see in this is that now you are much closer to your best friend?” Nik’s words came out with a jealous bite.

Walker smiled and thumped him hard on the chest. “If you don’t know how I feel about you by now, then you are not as sensitive as you claim and your abilities to mind read are pretty faulty. Yeah, Stanley told me that once we bonded that you can get into my thoughts.”

Nik gave a half grin and looked a little sheepish when he bent for a kiss. “Okay, I have that ability, but I can’t just mind read at will. I can only get into your thoughts when you are in the grips of deep emotion or torment and most often that is not a clear read. It just lets me know there is a problem and I need to fix it. The ability is there so that I can always take care of you.” He kissed him again and opened the car door for him before rounding the vehicle and getting into the driver’s side.

“What about the memory scrub thing you can do?” Walker planned on being with this guy so he needed to understand the lay of the land.

“If you’re asking, can I do that to you, the answer is no.” Nik put the car in gear and soon they were on their way back to town. “I can only influence the immoral and weak minded.” Nik reached over and folded Walker’s hand into his and held on as they drove.

Nik was on cloud nine now that he had his beloved safe and secure and was on his way back to the Imperial. He had no idea that Massey would have taken things this far and dared to threaten his beloved. He still felt unsure as to leaving Massey alive. He would have preferred to have had the man disappear, but his soft-hearted lover could not handle such brutality so he agreed and simply scrubbed his mind.

His beloved presented as a hard ass but it was clear his little love was tender and loving and exactly what his Coven needed in their leadership, someone with a beautiful heart.

“You said that you destroyed all of Massey’s businesses.” Walker broke the silence.

  “Yes, he is ruined.”

“The Garage belonged to Ed Massey. I’m going to need to find a new job.” His tone was not sad just irritated. “I liked my job, I like working on cars.” He added as if to himself.

“You have nothing to worry about my love. I bought the Garage through a third party shortly after we first met. Ed doesn’t own it, I do and you can keep you job for as long as you want.” He pulled into the underground garage below the Club and killed the engine. “You do know that you don’t have to work at all if you don’t want to. I have enough to support you through several lifetimes and beyond. I am a very wealthy man. If there is something else, you’d like to do or an interest you’d like to pursue just say the word, and it is done.” Nik stopped talking when he saw a look of total wonder in Walker’s eyes and it was soul stirring.

“We’re really doing this, aren’t we, you and me?” Walker reached up and cupped Nik’s cheek. Nik nodded and kissed the palm of Walker’s hand.

“You and me Walker, now to forever, you and me.” Nik pulled him across the console and into his arms and they christened the front seat of the Lexus, for the first time.

  EPILOGUE

The transition to The Imperial Club was easier than Walker had thought it would be. He assumed the membership would look at him as a lowly interloper in their polished world, but that was not the case. They accepted him completely as the beloved of their Master, which was a bit to get used to but Walker loved every minute of it.

He continued to work at the Garage because he loved his job and he felt the need to continue being himself along with being the Master’s beloved. He loved saying that, it gave him a thrill every time. Nik moved him into the Club the same day as he’d rescued him from Massey. He’d had his people clean out the apartment, fix the door, terminate his lease and bring everything to the club. Life with Nik was amazing and the sex was beyond description. Walker never knew he could be so happy and so fulfilled.

The only negative was Josef McQueen, Nik’s Second in command. He took full responsibility for Walker being abducted. He’d taken Lando off watch and brought him in too soon and he was having a difficult time dealing with that mistake. It’d been over two weeks now since Walker had taken his place next to Nik and he felt it was time to bury the hatchet, so to say.

“Josef.” Walker called to him as he saw him at the bar going over stock sheets with the manager. Josef lifted his head and looked over at Walker, always with a sadness in his eyes. He laid the papers on the bar top and met Walker by the front doors. Walker was dressed for work and was going to be heading out shortly. He worked a part time schedule now, due to Nik not wanting to be away from him for forty hours a week. They came to an agreement on twenty, any way that Walker wanted to break it up, but only twenty. Walker could live with that, plus he got to work in the Coven garage anytime that he wished.

“Yes, sir.” Josef did not make eye contact with Walker. Walker grabbed him by the upper arm and pulled him off to the side away from any onlookers.

“Okay, man we have to work this out and stop calling me sir, for god’s sake. I’m a twenty-one-year-old auto mechanic, don’t call me sir. My name is Walker, use it.”

“You are my Master’s beloved.” Josef stated.

“You are my Master’s commander, yet I don’t call you sir.” Walker shot back. “We, you and me, are equals and more than that, I want to be your friend. I know I’m not the caliber of friend you’re used to but I can hold my own. Honest, I can be fun and helpful and sometimes even entertaining, but most of all I am loyal to the bone, ask Stanley.” Walker threw his head back and sighed while rubbing his forehead with the palm of his hand.

“I know you feel responsible for my abduction, but look at this way, I think it was meant to be. If I hadn’t been taken, Massey would have continued with his bullshit ways for a lot longer and I got to see my Master in action. Let me tell you that man is something to behold.” Walker got dreamy as he relived those moments.

Josef started to laugh and Walker relaxed immediately. “Meant to be?” Josef laughed and the surrounding air lightened. “That’s all you got little man?”

“That’s all I got.” Walker hunched his shoulders and chuckled.

“Walker, Josef, what am I interrupting?” Nik walked over and draped his arm across Walker’s shoulders in that possessive way that he had and placed a proprietary kiss to the top of his head.

  “Just talking.” Walker hedged.

“Yes, your beloved is quite the conversationalist.” Josef added. Nik looked back and forth between them and then cocked a suspicious eyebrow. Nik kissed him again, but on the lips this time. Walker loved the fact that Nik was so open with his affections. He never knew he could be loved so hard and so openly and love it so much.

“I think I’ve missed something here, but going by the smiles on your faces, all is well.” Nik stated.

“All is well.” Both Josef and Walker said in unison.
